Art in Public

A guy was playing the cello in the Powell Street MUNI station today, and completely transfixed a number of kids.

Photo processed to look like a painting

Picked up a new app for the iPhone that does a very nice job of processing photos to look like paintings....

It's called Artista Oil.

Worth checking out.

Wind-Generated Joke

Call me infantile, but I thought how the wind changed this sign is hilarious.

Reason to Celebrate!

A small crowd assembled outside the Federal building in San Francisco which houses the courtroom of Judge Vaughn Walker, who just handed down a ruling striking down California's Prop 8. Prop 8, passed by a narrow margin of voters last year, took away the rights of same-sex couples to marry.

Stop and Smell...

Or at least look at. I love the plants folks put out on the sidewalks in the City....

Press Mess

The TV News riser at yesterday's press conference in which the Governor of California announced his nominee for the next Chief Justice was pretty crowded.... Fortunately I'm talker than most videographers.

Iron Giant -- Buddah?

I've been watching this sculpture going together for the past few days
in San Francisco's Civic Center, unsure of what it was to become.
Today the arms arrived, and now it's pretty clear what it will be.

I'll try to post a pic of the complete sculpture when it's done.

HDRI image from iPhone

In the wake of the iPad announcement, I thought I'd post a little
picture from my phone, made using an app that allows me to create high-
dynamic-range images (HDRI). If you can use the iPhone to post-
produce photos like this, to paint, to compose music, to edit video,
just imagine what you'll be able to do on the tablet.

Fun toys!
